When the Gael came to Ireland, most of the Tuatha Dé Danann went underground, under the sea, or sailed west into the Blessed Realm.  The Irish and Scottish American who settled in the Southern Appalachian Mountains during the settlement period found many of the familiar ancient ones tucked into Cherokee, Catawba, and Shawnee mythology.  The Irish and Scots also discovered the ancient voices of their heritage very alive in the North American landscape.  Herein lay some of those tellings as the North American Celts discovered the Tuatha Dé Danann alive and well.
