Eco-Adventure & Service Trip in the ancient Mayan cloud forest of Cerro el Amay
You are invited! We are looking for a small group of ambassadors to journey with us into the ancient cloud forest of Cerro el Amay in Guatemala, and the home of the indigenous K’iche’ people. We have been fostering a beautiful relationship with these people for the past 7 years and it is an honor to share in our cross-cultural sharing with you. While in Guatemala, we immerse ourselves in:
Cloud forest ecology
Traditional K’iche’ crafts
Daily village life
Traditional food preparation
Local craft techniques
Native tree restoration
Caving & waterfall exploration
Soccer & village games
Musical and arts sharing
Swimming & Cliff jumping
Spanish & K’iche’ immersion
Traditional cacao ceremony & temazcal
The mission in 2024 is simple: explore the biodiversity of the Cerro el Amay cloud forest preserve. We will explore caves, climb trees, identify species, and help further our understanding of the community from an ecological perspective.
Connect with the K'iche people of Laj Chimel
Engage in service projects with the community
Play soccer with the village children
Share in traditional foods of the cloud forest
Observe rare species
Explore new cave systems
Climb 180-foot trees
Ever wish you were on the set for Avatar? Here is your chance...
